En 1999 los Islotes de Pu\u00f1ihuil fueron declarados Monumento Natural porque son un lugar importante para la reproducci\u00f3n de una colonia mixta de ping\u00fcinos de Humboldt y de Magallanes, un fen\u00f3meno que no se puede observar en muchos lugares en Chile. Adem\u00e1s albergan varias otras aves y tambi\u00e9n nutrias del mar.<\/p>\n

Para proteger este ecosistema los paseos en bote son regulados por una ordenanza municipal que limita la cantidad de salidas por d\u00eda.<\/p>\n

In 1999 the 3 little islets of Pu\u00f1ihuil were declared Natural Monument because they are an important site for the reproduction of the Humboldt and the Magellanic penguins. A mixed penguin colony like this is not very common in Chile. In addition, the islets are the habitat for several other birds and also marine otters.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

In order to protect this particular eco system, the boat trips are operated in accordance with a local regulation which limits the<\/em><\/strong>
\nnumber of tours per day.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
